Jonathan is a Partner, Chief Executive Officer and the firm’s Chief Investment Officer
The Australian Financial Association (AFA) has voted him as one of Australia’s Top 5 Financial Advisers.
In January 2015, Jonathan became Stanford Brown’s Chief Executive Officer. He oversees a boutique financial services firm that provides wealth management, insurance, financial planning and mortgage broking services to its private clients, and consulting services to its corporate clients.
Jonathan’s role is to ensure that Stanford Brown delivers on its three promises: to hire only the best people; to provide its clients with a heroic level of service; and to pursue a relentless commitment to excellence.
Jonathan is a champion of small business and entrepreneurship, and is passionate about the critical role small business plays in Australia’s economy.
Jonathan is also the firm’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO). In this role, he chairs Stanford Brown’s Investment Committee and is responsible for the prudent management of the firm’s client funds. He spent 15 years working in the global financial markets as a bond trader at US investment bank, JPMorgan, and then as a portfolio manager at Caxton Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds.
In 2006, Jonathan moved to this magnificent ‘land of sweeping plains, of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains’, with his Gold Coast-born wife and two children.
He joined Stanford Brown in May 2008 and became a Partner of the firm the following year. In January 2015, he became the firm’s CEO.

Best advice Jonathan was ever given….
Never give up. Ever | Listen to people | Smile | You can learn something from everyone.
Jonathan’s favourite pastime….
Playing my guitar. Really badly. Playing O35 soccer for Manly Allambie.
Quality Jonathan most admires in others….
The three qualities we seek in all staff at Stanford Brown are intelligence, integrity and drive. The rest can be taught. The quality that will best equip my children for life is tenacity.
Jonathan’s favourite book….
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Qualities of leaders Jonathan admires….
Sir Alex Ferguson’s ability to inspire loyalty and motivate people to perform to the maximum of their potential.
Bill Winters – COO, JPMorgan and my first boss. Bill was shy, highly intelligent, a poor speaker and nerdy, but he inspired passion in his troops and led by example. Proof that not all great leaders are tall, articulate and polished!
“My relationship with Jonathan is very one-on-one. He’s a very approachable guy. He understands the issues that I’m dealing with. That’s what I think has been good about my interaction with Stanford Brown because they listen.”View Success Story
